Benefits of water for the skin and health
As you well know, water is an indispensable element for our health, it is vital and should never be in short supply. Good hydration is the key to the functioning of our organism, and among many other values, it contributes to the activation of the organs, re-establishes oxygen levels and maintains body temperature.
According to an important study, we can live a month without food but only a week without water. 70% of our body is water, so the ideal is to ingest at least 1.5L to 2 litres a day, depending also on the physical activity we usually do.
And if we are well hydrated on the inside, we reflect this on the outside. Water accounts for 35% of the skin's structure, making it our best beauty ally.
6 BENEFICIAL PROPERTIES OF WATER FOR OUR SKIN
CLEANSING: Water is the main cleansing agent as it provides us with a large amount of oxygen, both inside and out. The oxygen provided by water helps our skin to stay healthy in the face of external aggressions.
PROTECTION: Being dehydrated dries out our skin, which causes us to lose our natural protective barrier, leaving our epidermis less smooth and with more eczema.
ELASTICITY: Water gives our skin elasticity. If we lack water, the skin becomes much less elastic and takes longer to return to its place when stretched.
STIMULATING: Whether warm or cold, water is a great stimulant for our skin as it favours vasodilation and vasoconstriction.
CALMING: Water is very beneficial for itching, applying wet compresses to irritated or itchy areas produces a calming effect.
COOLING: Wetting or moistening our skin not only gives us a cooling sensation but also prevents us from heat stroke.
WHAT ARE THE AESTHETIC BENEFITS OF WATER?
Shine and texture: Water provides us with a large amount of minerals, nutrients and, most importantly, oxygen, helping cell regeneration.
Elimination of toxins: Drinking the right amount of water purifies our body, thus helping cell renewal.
Reduces the risk of varicose veins and cellulite: good hydration improves blood circulation, favouring the correct oxygenation of the tissues, eliminating harmful substances and favouring the arrival of nutrients.
Firmness: Cold water firms the skin as it favours the penetration of water-soluble substances, thus increasing the elasticity of the epidermis.
Shiny hair: Last rinsing the hair with cold water opens the follicles and makes the hair shinier.
Eye bags: Washing our eyes in the morning with plenty of cold water reduces eye bags due to its anti-inflammatory effect.
Prevention of excess weight: Water is the best ally for diets. It satiates us and it also helps us to control what we eat as well as being very beneficial for preventing fluid retention. Many dieticians recommend drinking a glass of water before each meal to satiate our appetite and control what we eat. Water is also very important for the correct absorption of nutrients from food.
Remember to hydrate properly throughout the day. Drink water, your body will thank you for it, it takes care of you on the inside, and it shows on the outside.
